Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing performance ! I am using the signature Elite es60 more less as Studio monitoring and or audio mastering, in which I should add mainly for playback listening after recorded music. I have them wired in with 12 gauge speakon cables utilizing an adapter to the speaker cabinet itself. I have all the audio coming through a Tascam Model 24 and powered by a crown xls1002 amplifier. Running a constant 3/4 power off the amp adjusting the volume with the main slider on the Tascam mixing board. Although I have not pushed these speakers to their absolute limit I can say that they have been driven pretty hard. The base response is an absolute Powerhouse, extremely punchy and the mid and high range come through crystal clear. They reproduce the sound so well that listening back to a recording gives me chills as the snare drum sounds exactly what it sounds like, the cymbals so7nd like glass breaking. I am highly impressed with this product from Polk which I actually would not expect anything less. I could only imagine what it would sound like with a couple subwoofers added to the system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality and performance at this price...go for it. I bought these speakers to use for music in a stereo system, no home theater. These Signature Elite ES60s are amazing. They reproduce the mids and highs so clearly and spaciously, with accuracy and depth, but what is even more remarkable is the bass capability. I'm kind of an old-school stereophile, and generally adhered to the philosophy that in order to obtain truly deep and truly strong bass, you had to have huge cones, period. Whatever magic Polk has done with the combination of the drivers, the cabinet and the power port, it works spectacularly...prodigious bass, even without being augmented by turning up the bass control, utilizing the loudness feature or the "Dynanic Bass Expander" feature found on my very powerful and heavy top-of-the-line Onkyo TX-108 from 1988. I won't speak for a HT setup, but I can say that for music you will not require a subwoofer if you own a pair of these. I sit and listen to various types of music, and shake my head at just how superb the sound quality is that I'm experiencing from these gems, no bi-amping or bi-wiring. For this kind of sonic superiority at this price, it's a no-brainer.

Questions

I have a vintage Pioneer SX-980 (80WPC @ 8ohms & 100WPC @ 4ohms) and a vintage Pioneer SX-850 (65WPC @8 ohms & 85WPC @ 4 ohms). Would the ES60 or the ES55 be better suited for either one of these receivers?

Asked by: KennethM
Hello, either speaker should pair well with your amplifiers. Deciding between the two will depend on your room size, as the ES60 is better suited for large rooms and the ES55 for medium-sized rooms.

Which of these tower speakers would be a best fit for my Sony STR DH 550? Primarily for metal and rock music and movies.

Asked by: shawn81
The Polk Audio ES60 floor-standing speakers can play significantly loud while maintaining control. Your current receiver and the ES60 speakers should make for a fine pairing.

For a home theater room 20ftx14ft, is ES60 front tower speakers and ES35 center speaker appropriate or an overkill? For rear surround, would ES10 be better or ES15? Alternatively, can I use Klipsch RP 402S as surround speakers to pair with ES60 & ES35?

Asked by: Vasa
Hello, For a room such as that size, the ES60s and ES35 will certainly fill the room with sound, this can certainly be done and at lower volumes, it would not be overkill but give you the flexibility to provide a better sound experience if you wish to pump up the volume a little. The ES15 may pair better with these towers in terms of driver size but the ES10 would be a great alternative as surround channels in movie mixes tend to only be filled with effects which either speaker will perform great with. The Kilpsch speakers could be use but there would be a timbre mismatch that might be noticeable to you and might not be the mesh of sound you would want in a home theater environment.

Would a Crown Power amp work ok with the S60

Asked by: Geno
Hello Geno, As long as the power amp you are looking at sits between 20–150W (which is the power rating for the S60) Then it will work just fine. Crown is typically known for their pro line of power amps which will sit well above the wattage recommended for the S60s but if you are using one that does sit between the recommended wattage, then it will work fine. That said, if you are looking for a recommendation for a solid amp to pair with the S60, we would recommend looking at Denon or Marantz. These amps are built with quality components and pair well with our speakers. https://www.denon.com/en-us/category/amplifiers/ https://www.marantz.com/en-us/category/amplifiers

Will ES60 be a good fit for my Pioneer VSX-1120 receiver? I'm also thinking of replacing the receiver with Marantz NR1200. I also have PSW125 subwoofer. I listen to CDs and MP3s only. Thanks in advance for all advice!

Asked by: Plovdiv2023
Hello, the Polk Audio ES60 and the Marantz NR1200 will make for a beautiful pairing. The VSX-1120 will be a good fit until the NR1200 can be added. In setting up the ES60 speakers with the VSX-1120, set the ES60 speakers to Large and the Bass setting to LFE + Main. LFE + Main will allow the Subwoofer to be active with CD and MP3 playback. Pairing with the NR1200, start with the Low Pass Filter set to 80 Hz and lower the Hz until the desired Bass is achieved. https://manuals.marantz.com/NR1200/NA/EN/DRDZSYntwoqjfv.php
